Do you need to curse to make a point? My two cents on the topic.
Gary, I KNOW you’re being real and authentic but you keep talking about “monetizing” things and you can better montize yourself if you cut out the cursing. Look, I like to drop f-bombs, s-bombs, etc. with my friends one-on-one but when being professional I cut that out. You DON’T swear on WLTV, which is unscripted, why do you need to do it when making keynotes?
If I was a company looking to hire a keynote speaker, looking at your “portfolio” of work I would not hire you only because of the language. It’s unecessary and doesn’t add anything it just takes away. You’re trying to promote and monetize yourself, it’s what you’ve been talking about and passionate about, why would you reduce that value by using off-color coments to make you less universal?
You are now a brand, you get that, and while you should still be yourself you need to be professional to maximize your ability to monetize yourself. Plus do you want your kids or grandkids at the age of 4 or 5 seeing these keynotes? That should be your litmus test.
