I’ve come up with a new sandwich, something I’ve named ”Armed Forces”: Which is Land (Army), Sea (Navy), Air (Air Force) (and more land—aka Marines). For the Land, you have a cheeseburger; for Sea you have batter-dipped fish strips (fish and chips style, but strips); for Air you have crispy chicken tenderloins (aka chicken fingers); and for more land BACON!
To assemble start with a toasted bun, spread some mayo on the bottom and layer with some lettuce. Then add the cheeseburger patty. Put alternating strips of the chicken tenderloins and fried fish strips on the cheeseburger; you should have at least two of each. Top with at least 4 strips of bacon; add pickles, tomatoes and a little more mayo on the bun cap (add bbq sauce, ketchup or mustard if preferred)….and enjoy! The mayo goes with everything and I recommend just a little bit of ketchup or bbq sauce which can also compliment all of the protein in the bun.
With every bite you get surf and turf kicked up a notch with the Armed Forces combination.
For a “deli-style” Armed Forces sandwich use the following: For Land there is roast beef (or corned beef); for Air some turkey; for “more land” BACON; and for Sea the secret ingredient is to add some salmon lox. Add mayo, lettuce, tomato and provolone cheese with a smear of cream cheese on the top slice next to the lox.
