SUVs will be taxed into oblivion or will somehow be banned or only given to “qualified” individuals in the not too distant future. Our government has just mandated CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards requiring 37.5 average by the year 2016. The only way the Federally-run car companies can reach those numbers is with small cars no one wants to purchase.  This unfortunate accident occurred yesterday, and it’s a tragedy. It’s a full-size SUV vs Small Car (not even a compact or sub-compact) and the SUV won. Physics cannot be cheated and we will see much more of this in the future. They are not taking 18-wheelers off the road.

The socialism of our country is continuing with these new mandates that the car manufacturers didn’t even balk at, because they had no choice with the Federal Government now running them.  Previously the automotive lobbyists in DC would have (and did) squash this before it would ever get passed or enacted.  The slippery slope of socialism continues.
