Gary Vaynerchuk, author of “Crush It” and host of “Wine Library TV” hits this topic out of the park. Bravo, Gary thanks for bringing things back to the basics,. If your foundation (i.e. content) isn’t solid, then it doesn’t matter what type or how high of a structure you build on it…a shaky foundation will bring it all down.

Very cool perspective of a Space Shuttle Launch. It shows the shear speed and acceleration of the ride to orbit. The video was posted in December 2007, however the last flight prior to that was STS-120 when Discovery was launched on October 23, 2007. It’s not clear exactlywhen this video was taken.

For comparison purposes the Endeavour STS-130 launch on 2/8/09 had the following statistics at 1:10 into the launch: Shuttle was traveling at 18,000MPH, at an altitude of 10 miles (52,800 feet) and 11 miles downrange.

[Note: There is some explicit language from the videographer due to the awesomeness and amazement of what he’s seeing.]

Flight Deck video of Space Shuttle Atlantis STS-122 launch on 2/7/08; includes communications audio.

This is the second (and successful) Spirit Airlines #640 approach for landing at DTW (Detroit Metro Airport) on Runway 21L on 12/15/09. As you can see the visibility is very low, and I’d estimate the ceiling around 6-800AGL with an occasional cloud lower than that. On the prior attempt the ceiling felt lower which is why I think the pilot wisely choose to go-around. Includes turn off to taxiway.

Finally a sunny day!

Finally a sunny day!

This is the first attempt at landing Spirit Airlines #640 at DTW (Detroit Metro Airport) on Runway 21L on 12/15/09. As you can see the visibility is very low, and I’d estimate the ceiling around 6-800AGL with an occasional cloud lower than that. Which is what I think happened here, there was a low-hanging cloud at the critical “go-no-go” point for landing and you can hear the pilot accelerating the engines for the second (and very successful landing attempt-see other video). He announced that it was due to air-traffic separation issues, but I don’t think he wanted to frighten the passengers with the very low ceilings at the time we’re landing. This is the first commercial airlines go-around I’ve ever flown on and I commend the pilot for his decision with such low visibility.
